1776 was at the center of the entrepreneurship community of Washington D.C. in 2014. Interns flocked to the incubator every semester hoping to catch a glimpse of President Obama, or fast track themselves to a rapidly growing startup. However, the experience was mired by siloed department structures where the greatest overlap for interns occurred when working the front desk.
I lead a team of interns in a design thinking workshop focused on reimagining the internship experience. My recommendations included additional interactions between startups, 1776 leadership, and interns, gamification of intern responsibilities to the overall organization, and strategy focused projects happening across departments to advance 1776.
